Been a tough go last few days. Muskie not very active. At least not for me. Had a good one boatside yesterday, not good hook set. Only got a look. Managed this little fella today.

Nice fish , Chad!

Did not go out for musky recently but when fishing for walleye in spots frequented by muskies ( so I never fish a jerkbait for walleye without a metal leader there) I did not have a single musky hit.

Very soon, when the nights become cooler musky activity should pick up.

Thanks for sharing your reports.

I wonder how many times that fish may be caught in it's lifetime...that's a nice one.

I know that large predatory fish like musky and pike can be caught and released many times during their life.

There was a study done on pike in Sweden (don't know where I read about it, it was a while ago), where they tagged large pikes in one particular lake .

The tag was some kind of a long segmented strip affixed to their dorsal fin or somewhere around that area, so when a fisherman would catch this pike they just strip a top segment from that tag and report it to the local fisheries unit. They were saying that many large pikes were caught and released several times in one season.

That’s cool info. I have caught a tagged Muskie before. Tried to get info from the MNR, they didn’t know much but did say there used to be a guy in the Kawarthas area that used to do some tagging. This pic is from within the past ten years.

This was the fish. Tag was just behind the dorsal fin on my side.
