try to get at least one fishing trip in per summer and usually it is with a group of friends.this year is an exception, but my best bud is still coming!! My dog already knows something is up,after years of pre planning, spoiling reels, putting gear together he knows something is up!lol Every day for the last week I tell him we are one day closer, and even though I know he doesn't truly understand all my talk,he knows good things are coming....and if you are a dog lover then you understand what i am going on about..lol I now have a new younger lab cross that has literally never seen a true body of water either than a creek or stream, and oh man,its going to be interesting for sure
I love early mornings just as the sun is beginning to rise, where the early morning mist slides across the water like it has an agenda and my aged buddy is already at the dock with the anticipation of a pro angler on day 3!! I never grow tired of that..like ever I am certainly not a young man by any means, but my child like spirit glows just thinking of that scenario
I have let people down,I have been let down;but my dog has always been right there, through it all...and most of the time with eager eyes and a feverishly wagging tail!! This trip is for you bubbles

Can so relate to that story... my buddy used to do the same.he knew when we were going and always tagged along
He passed away 10 years ago and I have not replaced him...just can't do it, but I think of him every time I am at the cottage and put the boat in the water
The connections we make with our best buds are unbreakable

Put your best friend and your dog in the trunk of a car and close the lid. When you open it up an hour later I can guarantee which one will be happy to see you.

Great story, my Springer crossed rainbow bridge almost 5 years ago. I said never again cause it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. That lasted 10 months and my new buddy is now 4. He is with me everywhere I go and on those times when he can't go he lets you know it. On more than one occasion I have told the wife not to make me choose. Their love is unconditional.
