As many of you are well aware, there was a recent tariff dropped on steel, aluminum, outboards, and a bunch of other categories.

I just anted to put the feelers out to see if anyone has seen any increases in quote prices since the US made these changes?

It already feels like the costs up here are super high, and I canít imagine what it could turn in to with these new rules.

Is a $20k boat now going to be $30k, and a $50k boat going to be $70k?

I guess the solution is buy Canadian, ie Princecraft, or bite the US bullet to have some variety in choice.

Whatís your take on this topic? Iím not an expert, so thoughts are welcome.

This why I bought another Legend .

Iím sure with all the increase wonít take long until Canadian manufactures do the same. Well aware of what their competition has to offer .

Only thing to do is put the G-String on and touch your toes ...

Those are some serious figures no doubt!

Iím already in on my new boat which is an Alumacraft (from the US of course), so I may have dodged the crazy increases. I guess the solution is to buy a boat in the next 2 weeks if you havenít already?

As I said before... they seem expensive as it is right now. Adding 20-30% is going to be a real punch in the gut for a lot of retailers and consumers.

You also have to wonder what it might do to the used market. If the seller has more people lined up to buy their boat, I assume the price will increase. I mean, if a new boat that costs $50k last year is going to be worth $65k, I expect the seller will be asking full value from when it was new knowing full well that the buyers have no choice but to spend more $ for less boat.

Crazy state of affairs. Good luck to the buyers... get it now, or pay the piper later!

I'm no fan of Trudeau, but he didn't start this idiotic trade war.

Its as good a time as any to promote buying Canadian. I think its great that these retailers are cancelling their orders, it shows that the retaliatory tariffs are having the desired effect and if anything more products should be added to the list.

Unfortunately Trumps steel and aluminum tariffs are going to effect all products made with those materials regardless of if they are made in Canada or not. We can at least send a message by choosing to avoid products made in the US. Canada is the largest consumer of US goods in the world, Trump wants to make it seem like they don't need us and we are lucky to get whatever he allows us to have but he will figure it out eventually.

I couldn't afford a pre-tariff boat so I guess I am SOL until that Lotto Max pays off.

Let those idiots slug it out. I think we will have to tighten our belts for a little while but in the end everything will go back to normal.

If only our pm knew how to play the game. Poor relations is going to hurt all of us. This will affect tackle prices as well. Interesting times!
