Making a trip down from a far distance away. How's the ice off Casey's?

No huts out yet. If it gets as cold as the weather network is calling for later in the week, it may be possible to see some out next weekend. Could try calling Casey's, Randy's or Paul's for better info

I can believe the ice is that thick closer to shore, but a ways out to the normal grounds can't be that safe yet, the ice pushed way in less than a week ago. She was cracking and banging all night so it would have made some more ice last night and by the end of the week the temps are perfect for making inches a night.

100%!
last year was similar ice conditions there and in many spots my fishfinder could not even show the bottom due to packed ice underneath the hole, even thou the hole was drilled all the way through.

I watched the video too, looks like they made it out 3/4 mile, paul figured 20-25’ depth and they cut 6-7” solid ice with the chain saw. There was lots of smaller chunks of the pack ice coming up the hole. Be nice if some of that uneven ice melted or at least rounded off with the + temps and rain tomorrow before it gets cold again....I think everyone is anxious, I know I am, brand new Otter Cabin Pro XT just sitting collecting dust lol. Be safe

That happened to us 2 years ago out there too. I drilled a hole put my Marcum down and thought my flasher was broke haha ! So I bought an extension for the auger and have never used it I thought hell just move out away from the pack ice duh !!

Anybody close to that area know if there’s any snow cover? Wondering if it’s worth bringing the sled or just hand drag out the hut

I like to see 8 inches of ice before I bring out the sled.

Its a long way to walk out there.

There is not enough snow on the ground for liquid cooled sled to work fine.
OK if you got air cooled one.
