That's not too close at all. Acceptable distance. Not like he was right on top of you. 🤔

QUOTE (Dee004 @ Jan 12, 2019 - 04:39 pm)
Hard to tell with the picture sideways lol. I have had them setup half that distance on cooks. It is why I switched to decalf. Beats getting myself charged.

Now that made me laugh. Well put

I always go with double the distance of the depth. If you're in 15 FOW stay at least 30ft away that way you can't cross lines unless you get a runner, then the distance doesn't matter. 50FOW stay at least 100ft. Sure not everyone will follow that, but it is what I tell newer fishermen as a guideline. Generally well received.

That donít seem to bad to me. I donít really understand why people complain about people being to close. I get it if it was 10 to 15 feet away. No one owns the ice. People can fish where ever they please. I have a good spot on simcoe I fish for jumbos. Itís a 2 hour drive for me. If the area I want to fish had a bunch of huts on it Iíll still be setting up right there. Iím not gunna make the drive then change my game plan cause thereís a dozen huts where I want to fish. Just try and out fish them!

If there is one time I dont mind people fishing close to me is when perch or crappie fishing. The more line down the holes the longer the school stays in the area! Hell I would rather tie our huts to the same anchor lollll

Happened twice on Simcoe Saturday.
I walked out 2 klicks and there was no one around.
Two hours pass and two lugens show up and start fishing 40 yards away. FFS i can hear their conversation.
I move, was only catching dinks. Same thing set up away from anyone else. Within the hour some douche drops in and starts fishing, and then bit by bit working his way closer and closer to me.
The lake is huge, I'm not set up on anything unique that can't be found 50m away. I understand that there are special spots but there is the principle of diminishing returns.

If you thought he was too close and turning the auger the wrong way (I would have no complains considering you were in maybe only 20-25 FOW) AND was new, taking the 10 minutes with him to help out would have left you with a good deed under your belt, him feeling welcome and you both could have made a friend in each other. I still remember the first time I got help on Simcoe and still fondly remember the guy who took the 5 minutes to tell me what I was doing wrong.

When I am on cooks I often have people come up and talk to me and I invite them to cut a hole and fish. Perch like to school and many baits around keep their interest. Also being inviting is much better than b####ing about an area that looks like a city market anyway.
Honestly set your expectation for the area you fish. If you fish on tent city grounds donít expect to be alone.
