I bought these perch talker lures for christmas

They worked great early season! But now I am only catching dinks with them. and they don't work on whitefish.

Exactly!

But I do like the talker.

Good idea removing the chain to solve tangles. I had switched the treble out for single hook which also did the trick, but the action without a chain would be quite different, hmm...
