Just wanted to ask the board members... is a Meegs still your go to bottom finesse bait?

I still use them nearly all the time, but this year has been tougher to get a turn on them. Just looking out at hut city today and wondering if there are 200 Meegs lures bouncing bottom... do you think the whities might be getting conditioned to seeing these baits?

As I said, I am still a believer in them, and know people still catch a ton on them, but itís gotta look like itís raining Meegs out there sometimes! Lol

DW and sons or Simcoe outdoor both carry them.

Whities will pass up minnows as well, but show interest in a motionless rattletrap 4 ft off bottom.

Thatís an interesting point as well. They really are strange fish.

Last season I always had a tip up down with a couple of minnows on, jigging the meegs on my second line. You think I caught one fish on the tip up? Nope, not one! But it was a great sonar enhancer because I could always see when a fish was nearby... the minnows would get excited! Lol

I haven't had as much luck with them this year but after so much success last year with them I have been trying different tactics and new lighter soft plastics.

Totally understand your thoughts on that... PM works great! 😂
Lol, jk... but really, thatís the thing, finding something no one else is using.

I know meegs style baits work, but if everyone is using them...

Similar to the spoon and spinner era of my dad. They caught everything, then nothing. Iíve heard of a resurgence of spoons in the past few years because fish have not seen much of them in 40-50 years.

Read a few pretty informative articles about the topic as well.
