So I decided this year was the year to take my son on the ice for his first ice fishing trip. We were targeting Perch in 22.8’ of water. We had a few dink’s on screen come and go and I finally had one small fish rise on screen to our presentation. I told my son to reel as he kept letting the line go slack. Next thing you know there was a sweet little bit of silver coming through the whole. His first ever fish through the ice and it’s a Whitefish. I chased these for 3 years before I got one. LMAO.

I guess he is on his way now as he is already excited to return.

The pic is him with a close friend of mine. He was so excited to rush over to show my buddy his Whitefish he wiped out on the ice. After a few tears we got that ever special pic.

Pic of the day!

Seriously, if we could all remember the day we were “hooked” it would be amazing.

This pic will be a lifetime memory, congrats!

Congrats to your son on his first iced fish.

On a side note it actually appears to have a central mouth which would make it an herring.

Just the pic of the mouth is bad. 100% White Fish. I have caught and cleaned lots of them.

My son seems to be my good luck charm. On the way home we had a fresh snow fall. Not a tire track on the road home and suddenly out hope a cotton tail at full tilt. My tire had a tap sound and I stopped to find track leading off the road through a ditch and under a tree. The rabbit was alive but both hind feet were smooshed. I dispatched the little guy and will also be having rabbit stew now. Lol.
