travel from Fergus to Gilford ,easy access off 400, I go for the perch and always do ok and have a fun day,
I would like to use a tip up to see if I might hook onto a ling, using a live minnow on the bottom . anyone happen to have any luck with that or are they not in that area . I usually fish 20 to 30 feet , do I need to go deeper?
thanks !

never fish that side of lake but doesn't matter really where you are, they swim everywhere. Fish shoals that give access to deeper waters. Fish where there are sand or gravel areas where they eat or spawn during winter.

Hey Gerryk,

I have only caught ling in deep water at dusk and late into the night.

Most active at night, like smelt. Shallower water close to deep water is best.

No burbot down in cooks bay. Itís to far from the main lake basin, and there is no suitable spawning habitat for them down there. As mentioned these fish are spawning or will be spawning on the next full moon. Best of luck in your pursuit.
