Just printing out the score sheet for our 2022 Annual Nip Trip.
Since our first year (2018) I pulled together a little contest in excel with scoring which is weighted according to species/size. When we arrive, once we get organized, the sheet goes up on the wall and the competition is on! It’s proven to really elevate the experience and it’s also a great way to document the yield year to year.
Just thought I’d share. Perhaps there are some other annual traditions out there that could improve the fishing experience for other anglers out there.

I’ve always enjoyed having a contest/ tournament on our trips. I’ve been up with as many as 30 guys and lately 4. My own hut would put in an agreed amount of money each. Once we were set up in the hut the contest would begin and end at 8 am of the morning we depart. The categories were First Fish Biggest Fish Most Fish. 15 bucks per man Now with the other huts it was generally 3-6 pm on Saturday with the biggest fish (length) getting the win. 5-10 bucks a man. More times then not a 20-24 inch pike got the cash.

Nice Chevy, I like that format.
One thing I have wanted to do is secure a couple of other bungalows and bring up 12 guys (4 per) and have each hut put in say $200 and the divide up the pot over various prizes based on set achievements like you mentioned. Just tough to coordinate with an operator to get 3 huts nearby one another year after year… but one day!
It would be a nice change to get as excited as the guy is next to you when he catches a fish versus feeling like he just pulled ahead of you by 3 points, leaving you there slow clapping lol, it would really bring the team mentality to the hut.
For now, you got me thinking of creating a couple of those extra prizes for first and biggest fish, at least… thanks!!

We do the same thing. Usually only 3 of us that go but we always do First fish (keeper) Biggest fish Most fish We had to change the first fish rule after a guy caught a 6” walleye 5 mins into fishing one year so now we do first keeper.

Good call on keeper as first fish.
Speaking of small fish, this is from the first year we went up, lucky Russ had his UL rod in hand, finessed this beauty
Would have locked up the Boobie prize that year for sure.
