Hello all only been hunting for the last 3 years all bow hunting ... was just invited to my girlfriends dads hunt for deer hunting for the rifle season ... the only rifle I have is a 22.250 savage so my question is would it be good enough to shoot a deer with ? Iíve heard a few guys say yes and few guys say no just looking for more experienced info thanks!

Yes a .22-250 is good enough for a deer. Shoot him in the heart/lungs area and he wont go far.

Bullet placement!!!
A .270 will take the largest of moose too, just gotta hit him in the engine room.

Sure bigger is better when it comes to a random hit wherever, but if you can hit him where you want youíll be good.

Definitely bullet placement is the key. I started out moose hunting with a 257 Roberts. Patience and proper shot placement always spell success.

A22-250 will work but like everyone says, shoot in the heart lung area and pick your shots. If you borrow a rifle ask Chevy if heíll lend you the 257 Roberts,it would make a great deer rifle.

I believe Chevy used the 257 to kill his coffee table too

It will work if you use the right shells. You dont want a fast expanding coyote bullet. You need something that will hold together.

You'd be wrong Jay. That was a head shot. I think you've got yourself in the book.

It's a great deer gun. I got my got my first deer with that gun. My dad made it for me and I still have it.

Haha itís about damn time I made the book! You just made me think of my first deer Kerry. Pretty amazing the things you forget in life, but I remember that like it was yesterday. Iím sure looking forward to getting up there at the end of the week for a couple of days. Iíll be sitting up in the exact same spot too!

Thanks Chevy, and great pic thanks for sharing man! Mine was a little spiker, felt like a 12 pointer though. Best part about it all is that Iíve always hunted with my pops, great memories for sure!
