Recently went out and hit the rivers. I was with two good buddies. It was a grind of a day. We hit a couple of rivers and did some solid travelling but got luck and hit a pod of moving fish. They were pushing up river hard as the water was dropping steady. We scratch out 11 fish in about an hour or so and then the bite was over. We did hit another river on the way home and get one more willing fish for the day.

We didn’t take many pics but I love this pic. It was one fish of a double header. We almost had a triple header as when I landed my fish my friend Pat was still fighting his and our other friend Bryce set the hook on a third and lost it. It was frantic for a few seconds.

Any worth keeping. Looks to be a lot of fun.
Great question. IMO yes.
We kept a couple of Chrome males. All the hens went back. Some would keep them hens but we sent them back to spawn. I personally hate skein so no point in keeping Chrome hens for me. As far as fish for food I will take a male over a female if I want to eat one. The males have better quality meat simply because females have a ton of energy dedicated to egg production where the males don’t. I find the males meat firmer and you get more meat per lb than the females. I like the smaller males and don’t eat them often. I also follow the Guide to Eating Ontario sport fish.

Nice catches, looks like a fantastic outing. What were the baits of choice since your not a fan of skein? I'm personally the same way, I don't like to use eggs from fish whether salmon or trout, I feel like one of those eggs might grow to be a record one day, I'm pretty much an artificials angler all around.

I use soft beads quite a bit. Also pink worms and jigs. On occasions flies.
I am not a fan of skein but I do use loose eggs. I get 90% of my eggs from Erie PA when I go as it’s a put and take fishery. Most of their rivers have zero natural reproduction as they are shale based and get very hot in the summer. Those that do have a little natural reproduction it’s still minimal. The rest of my loose roe comes from a stocked lake from a triploid species that can not reproduce.
On this particular day I was going all artificials but when I got to the parking lot someone had either dropped or dumped some great looking fresh roe bags. I picked up about 12-15 of them and tossed them in an empty jar I had. Funny thing was I caught all my fish on those roe bags. 😂

I have to ask, where are you that there is absolutely no snow in the background.? Not a specific location, I’m not interested in your spots, just looks foreign to me since it’s been white up here for months now.

Those look like keepers to me, nice fish.
That's how all the Lake O tribs looked before this last dumping.
