First attempt ever for Lakers in the boat today.

I have to give a massive thank you to Steve and Johnny at Impact Baits. All the fish and hits came on his awesome swim baits. You will see them in the pics.

3/4 on hook ups and several hits with no hookups.

All back swimming for another day. The big Laker was my PB at about 15lbs or so but thatís only a guess. I donít like them out of the water for long to take any real measurements.

On a side note all three were stockers. I was surprised. Is it common to catch all stockers with the bigger fish? The little guys I catch in the winter are always naturals.

Super Post! Great Pics.

I've never gone after Lakers (yet), but out of curiosity, what rolling speed is generally recommended for Lakers?
I realize the lure depth varies a lot, but at what speeds should one troll at?
Is there consensus on trolling speeds?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

I was jigging so I canít help you on the trolling speed. What I can say is the trollers were circling me and I did not see a single hook up from the rigger crowd.

Those are great fish! Never tried lake trout fishing before on Simcoe but it seems super fun! Can't wait to try next time

what depth are you getting them at? I tried yesterday not much luck, out at about 100 feet, but my bait probably isn't at 100ft...

I was in 110í but jigging 60-70 foot down.

Just like ice fishing you want them to chase.
