I USE A SIMILAR RIG CALLED THE AUTOMATIC FISHERMAN.
I FIND IT IS A LITTLE MORE STURDY THAN THE JAW JACKER.
I NEVER FISH WITHOUT IT.

I started using the JawJacker Hook Setter from Cabela's - available anywhere. Used it mainly for dead sticking for pike - seems to work well, not a 100% sure if the spring mechanism is legal but sold everywhere in Ontario

It is legal....the rod tip sets the hook when released by a bite......you can set the jawjacker to be super sensitive to a bite.....thats what I like.

I've been using the iFish Pro for a few years now and it is hands down the most versatile set up for tip up fishing. Whether you're targeting big perch or walleye/muskie/northern's, it does the job. It also allows you to fight the fish with a rod and reel versus hand over hand and you can set a sensitivity depending on the size of fish/bait you have on your line.

I second the iFish Pro. I put them in play last winter and they are there to stay. Hands down the best way to fish a dead stick.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR. ICE FISHING BABY.
60 DAYS UNTIL WE HIT BEAR CREEK FOR OUR 8TH ANNUAL TRIP TO THE NIP.
HOPEFULLY I CAN KEEP MY PHONE OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE LAKE THIS YEAR.
THIS PIC WAS THE LAST REPORT I MADE LAST YEAR BEFORE DROPPING HER DOWN THE HOLE.

I use the same set up in Chevy's picture except in threw the stand away, took a 4 foot piece of hockey stick, milled it so it would fit in the upper part, drilled a hole through to fasten it. Voila, you are now standing instead of kneeling on cold ice and snow.

If you could send me a pic, I'd appreciate it.
Cheers

let me try and find my ice fishing gear. I moved last winter and didn't go out at all. It's in one of my garages somewhere.

Doesn't having your line that far above the hole cause issues ex. wind ?

not one bit. the wind jigs the line for me depending on how much I bend the blade. I usually put this one furthest away as it allows for free spool from a fish grabbing the minnow.

Jaw Jacker is on sale for $39 at Cabelas if anyone interested.

Last time i went to Nipissing my Jaw jacker caught alot of fish. My buddies started to hate that thwang sound of it going off .

I like that 99% of my fish are hooked right in the upper lip. Often when you just leave a rod in a holder by the time you notice the hit its either spit the minnow or swallowed it.

I use a 2 vmc spinshot hooks 6-12" apart with a bell sinker on the bottom.

The windlass tip-up is on sail at Sail this weekend for $19.99

The windlass tip-up is on SALE at Sail? Sounds right to me.

I mean let's face it. If this windlass tip-up is illegal to use in Ontario, does anyone for any possible reason whatsoever think any legitimate retailer in Ontario would have the ability whatsoever to screw up his/her courage to OPENLY sell to the general public something (or anything) that is illegal?
