Was out on Sunday for the last go. There was open water beside the access, Deep bay access is open water too. There was still 12 inches of ice 8"of black out there ,but we were cautioned as a fellow fisherman stopped us and told us his grandfather and their pop-up went through the ice close to the middle of the lake. They were totally fine just a bit startled and set-up near our spot (about 500yds from shore). Any current prone areas are rapidly thinning from below and the firm white ice in the morning is getting mushy by the afternoon. Someone went through yesterday south of Dorset, as well (OK). We're packin it up for the season and waiting only 3 weeks or so now for some rainbows. Cheers everyone

Good report to warn people. I wasn't thinking about making a report because I was not out fishing but seeing yours, I thought I should also warn that I was up at the south end of Lake Of Bays this afternoon and saw that there was alot of open water (I am guessing that area - just north of Baysville - is an area of current but should defer to someone who actually knows that lake well). Of course, open water is less dangerous since no one would consider venturing out on open water for ice fishing but the amount of open water should give increase ice fishers' caution when going out.
