I was trolling at 1.7mph and no weight the fish were right up top about 5o feet behind boat I will also say the 2 fish in my profile picture were both 6 lbs and caught with the same EGB trolling at 1.4 to 1.7 mph
Wow. With so little weight it must have been fluttering right on top, or nearly so. Maybe the trout thought it was a struggling insect?
Don’t be afraid to try different techniques when the fish are not biting we started with worm a hook for a hour then we switched to trolling close to shore for a hour after that we moved out and trolled with the lake trolls with no success .My last thing I suggested to my son was to try small spoons over a bit deeper water on the calm side of the lake and we found them in a bay.

thanks for the reply, I was sure that a #1 is just below the surface while trolling, regardless of how much line is out. I am thinking of tipping my #2 with a bit of worm next time I troll. Will continue to experiment and change up tactics !!! ROOK
