Went for a quick trip to check the rapids for specks this evening. Bit of a bushwack and wow the water was high when I got there - never seen it so high this time of year in that spot. Made it harder to find the fish, the whole place was shallow riffles and rapids rather than the normal one or two major chutes, where generally all the fish are.
Took a while, but managed a decent one, and shortly after lost another. Tried all over, everywhere I could reach a cast to with the high water, tried different presentations, just couldn’t find any more fish. Tried for an hour and an half and hiked out just before dark. Ate him up fried in butter, caramelized onion, a splash of lemon juice and a touch of everything bagel seasoning.
