Cooch?, if anyone is out this weekend...

I would like to try to get out one more time for some perch on a weekday next week. If anyone is out this weekend, can you please post the conditions along the shoreline/access point you use. There is no specific ones I am looking at but the main ones people tend to use (like Tudhope Park, etc.) would be good enough to give me an idea of how my access point is likely to be holding and maybe even a possible back-up access spot if mine isn't great. Thanks!

Anyone get out and can report on issues with shoreline ice? I suspect it should be good. May head there tomorrow and would like to have some info.

Went out of Tudhope Saturday. Shoreline is holding up very well, measured 4-6"white ice and 12-14 black. Slick glare surface with patchy snow. Everything holding up really well... not many fishers on the ice though, I guess nobody likes prime spring bite?? took 21 eaters home, but couldn't find consistent jumbos, lots of dinks still in the mix. Lots of variety in the bite, some jumbos ripped the rod outta your hand, others you didn't even feel until you moved the rod. Had a 11" jumbo come up with a 5" goby in its mouth!

Getting warm, but we have some days left. ice was in very good shape, if the warm rain stays away I'm hoping to get out there next week yet1

Good luck. I was out on Simcoe on the east side today. Shore was still pretty good, ice was of course still very thick and the top was crisp and easy to walk on in the morning. By the time I came back at about 1:30ish, the top was quite soft and slushy. I drilled some holes on the way in as well just to see what the depths were like and also to get a feel for the ice. The morning cuts were still like I was going through decent, cold ice (mostly ice shaving). ON the way back, it was definitely like the broken safety glass/windshield type of chips coming off the ice and you can tell the ice was candling because the edges of the top of the hole would not be as smooth (some chunks would break away and you would get a chunk missing). So things are changing alot. When I got in my car, it's outside temp measurement was 17oC!! That's it for me for perch for this year. I am happy I got another trip in. A couple more Muskoka fishing trips would be a nice way to end the season.

Crap forecast for what is usually the best weekend for perch on ice!

Decided to sleep in today based on the forecast for persistent wind and steady light rain. Boy was that a mistake! Beauty day, should be on the ice dammit! Hope anybody who made it out is filling their bucket!
