Had a fantastic weekend in one of Nick and Neko's bungalows.
We showed up Friday morning ( the drive from Washago to Powassan was testy to say the least )
Nick meet us in the parking lot and Neko took us out to the promise land. During the unpacking one of the guys realizes he left his duffle bag with clothes and wallet with his fishing licence in his van back in Sunderland where we picked him up
Once we get setup I called the MNR and told them our problem. She got me to go online and setup an account then email the proof back to myself. With that out of the way it was time to fish.
It took about and hour for the first fish a nice chunky 15 incher, then came some smaller perch for awhile. After that it was about 3 and the walleye turned on. A very steady bite with one double header resulting in both fish lost at the hole. Ended up with 19 walleye, 2 pike ( 22 "range ) 1 herring and 11 perch ( 1 keeper ) The fish shut down at 6.
Day 2 the morning bite was from 6:30 to 10 was really good with some more keeper perch for the fish fry.
I knew one of the guys in the hut next to us and decided to have a little tourney from 3-6, biggest walleye, winner takes the money. Well the fishing was amazing ( for me anyway, I caught 25 eyes) and the biggest in our hut at 15 1/2 " . Well don't they come over to our hut with a 19" keeper. Man it was a thing of beauty. Fishing slowed at 6 again and the beers speed up The days total was 46 walleye, one tiny pike and some perch.
Day 3 was pretty much an identical day as the day before with 28 walleye. they were bigger this day 16-17 1/2 for the most part.
On the last morning 3 of us didn't fish ( busy packing and making breakfast) one of the guys pulls out a nice chunky 17 3/4 walleye....DANG ! no keepers for my gang again. I might add that just after this happened his phone jumped in his hole and is now resting on the bottom

I'm already dreaming of heading back in March for round 2. I'm due for a keeper
If your looking for a place to go, Nick and Neko were on point and their helper Kevin was a great guy.

Cheers Kerry...

Sounds like a great time with a few misadventures along the way. Those are the best trips!

Thanks for the great report Chevy. Happy to hear you had fun in spite of all; may you have lots of keepers next time. Even happier to hear there were no close encounters of the second kind with coffee tables.

I'll be up at Rob's this weekend. Can't wait!

Was it mainly split shot and minnow or were other baits producing?

Lmao, no injuries and no coffee tables issue at all. I did forget to mention what we were catching them on. Honestly, it didn't really matter. I found chartreuse worked good for me though. The hut next to us were exclusively a split shot and minnow. I also use a flasher. Now I'm not a great fisherman but found at times the hut was tilted in my favour.
You guys heading up, I wish you nothing but good luck.
I didn't take many photos at all. The reason being the issue people have on taking pictures of fish that are not keeper and must be released immediately. I did take a couple and if my buddy learns to get them off his phone I can pass a couple on to you guys.
Cheers
