We arrived yesterday but were not able to get on the ice until today. Just back at the cabin for some lunch and will be back out in the afternoon. So the fishing so far, 8 guys 3 walleye. No keepers. Marking lots of fish on the flasher but they are not willing to bite.

Sounds like the same frustration we had up there, don't let up on them. Keep your minnows fresh

Fixed your pictures for you.

Well after a good lunch we went back out for the afternoon and evening. The bite picked up a bit but not a great deal. We were marking lots of fish but still they were not willing to bite. Had the odd one willing to chase. The bite was soft and required lots of patience. We changed up the minnows often to keep them fresh and lively. The smaller jig heads and minnow seemed to be more effective then just a split shot and hook, and fishing outside the huts was more productive then inside. So at the end of the day, we landed 12 walleye all between 14 an 17 inches, lost roughly the same. Still had a great day, the weather was fantastic and a couple of the guys in the group(newbies) had a great day too, one of the guys has never been ice fishing before landed 4 of the 12, the other caught his first ever walleye. This is what makes these trips special. Hope to have more to report tomorrow.

Anyone tried just a minnow head on a small spoon? Gord Pyzer, on ice fishing for eyes, once said something like "I wouldn't give you a nickel for a minnow, but I'd give you a quarter for it's head".

I was out the past two days from 3:30 pm to 5:15 pm (had to come home for dinner). Both days the bite started around 4:30. First the perch then the walleye moved in. Over two days and in the last 45 minutes I brought in 3 perch 10 - 11.5 inches and 2 walleye 15 - 16 inches.

The bite was really soft and the dead stick only brought in perch after I jigged it a few times. All others were brought in when I slowly moved the rod it up and down 1 - 2 inches with an occasional pause (that's when I felt the weight. no tugging on the line).

I was using swim baits tipped with a minnow head or tail on the treble hook and that's the hook they were all caught on.

Good luck, hope it helps.
