finally managed to get out on deep water shoal this past Sunday, constant marks where i was fishing @ 55fow and managed to get a few topside, sadly i lost 3 at the hole and two more about 1/2 way up, need to change my rod and use a stiffer rod when fishing in my flip over.

1st laker of this year too, eventuality got it to take my vibrado and the chase went on for probably 30ft so don't give up if the fish turn away or drops back down.

Congratulations, sounds like you had some good action going on. What do you think the difference was compared to other days?

i only managed to get out one other time this year and it was 60km winds that day so i never really targeted the big gals this year, i think it was water clarity and the fact i found a spot that did not have allot of algae on the bottom so i was able to tap the bottom aggressively to bring them in, once i mark a fish i stair at my rod tip and go to a very gentle tail lift technique and just keep watching your rod tip, if the tip goes neutral and sort of lifts up a bit set the hook, white fish dont bite they suck so often you wont feel it but your rod tip will react.

here is how the bottom looked that day, i only used the camera to see how the bottom was i think on days like this they spook easy so i dont run the camera for actual fishing

good luck fellows

went out this past Sunday exact same spot and went 1 for 3 on white fish, i had a couple of lakers chaise but nothing willing to take this time. It was a tough bite on Sunday could hardly get the white fish to even pay attention but getting even one during the mid Feb blahs was ok i guess, how did everybody else do? i'm hoping the ice holds out for the March bite, if its does we could have some epic days this year
