Still all open water, but the video shows snow on the ground at Simcoe! I'm sure I won't be the only one watching the Blue Ice Report daily, waiting for the first sign of ice. Just itching to get out! Thanks in advance to Jack Hayward for all his posts. A ton of us rely on you to see what's happening and we'd be lost without your reports.......plus its always fun to see the jumbos that people are bringing in!

I’m guessing around 14th Jan 2021 before safe ice.

Here’s the southern Ontario pattern.

First skim ice. Every ice fisherman gets excited. It melts the next day.
This goes on for 3-4 weeks.
We finally get 1”-2”. Cooks freezes 100 yards out. Then we get a massive wind piling it all up 25’ from shore.
This continues for another 2-3 weeks each time gaining 25’ of shore ice.
We all suffer during the process and I personally go nuts and drive 2-3 hours north to fish for the day.

Usually sums up my first ice blues and first ice fish.

Is it bad that I already have everything packed and ready to go on my sled? So looking forward to getting out this winter.

Oh so true. 😂😂😂.

I for one will be on ice in about a month I figure but not on Simcoe.

I am excited and just hooked up my graph to a 18 amp hour battery today.
