Never fished Temagami. Start off with that. But from what I hear people fish it for Lakers and bigger fish. Nippissing is family friendly as your going to likely get some action. Walleye and perch vs laker fishing with the family I 10/10 times recommend walleye/perch. Depends on how old the kids are and fishing experience. Always fun catching a bunch of dinks when you’ve never fished before vs chasing a monster and getting skunked. I could be very wrong about temagami I’d love to fish it but never have. Good luck with whatever you do.

With the family Nippissing hands down. If going with a bunch of guys who are in it for the long haul and are willing to spend a week end for that one big bite,Temagami. Personally we never spent much time fishing out of the hut on Lake Temagami. It was home base for us as we had snow machines. Leave early in the morning and back at dark. Our hut operator always scratched his head at us until we came back with beautiful Brook trout from the back lakes.
Which also brings up that Lake Trout closed till Feb 15????? You have to check exact date. Hope this helps! Good luck with the family!

I’ve fished both and love both the biggest difference is the effort it takes to catch fish on both. Nipissing find a spot and catch perch and walleye all day. Temagami however you can get some beauties but you won’t get them sitting in your shack. Be prepared to log some miles and drill lots of holes. Family fishing I would highly recommend nipissing. Depending on how old the kids are if you can get your hands on an under water camera it can help pass the time. My kids watch it like regular tv and get so excited when something comes in on the camera. Best of luck!

Yes ...there are big ones in the lake but not as many as Temagami

Since you are going with the family it's Nip for sure as you will get far more action

have fished both and I love Temagami for the scenery and different species there, but I am sold on Nipissing as the bungalows are far bigger and comfy as well

have a great time
