Just an FYI for people that have fished this area in the past.

With the season approaching , I would like everybody that fishes this area to know that Fishing from shore at this area has been closed off by the natives that own this property.
This has happened due to fisherman.

Garbage everywhere.
Not stopping for proper permits.
Not obeying the fishing rules
over harvesting.

They felt enough was enough and the Chief shut it down.

Whether that changes in the future? Who Knows?

This all happened in June.
Maybe he will have a change of heart come fall.

It is embarrassing. This should never have happened.
I don't blame him at all.

I have witnessed all four infractions on many occasions.

It was long over due.

I agree (if those are the real reasons for shutting it down)

GOOD FOR THE CHIEF TO TAKE A STAND. IT IS ALWAYS BLAMED ON THE NATIVES FOR MOST OF THESE ISSUES AND IT IS JUST NOT FAIR TO THEM. THERE ARE BAD APPLES IN EVERY RACE. UNFORTUNATELY. HOPE THE BAN ON SHORE FISHING IS ENFORCED

I only went there one time and it was not what I expected.

We hit so many bows and honestly they fought like crap. I couldn't believe when we left and got stopped by an MNR officer who had at least 50 bows piled on to his open tail gate. He had busted so many poachers it was unbelievable. The stack was 2 feet deep across his whole tail gate. We spoke at length with him and he told us of the issues and how predicable it was to show up and have the exact same rate of infractions.

The fishing was not my idea of a good time with peoples huts 5-10 apart all for what I would classify as sad, rounded tail, ultra fat, lazy hormone plugged blobs.

Good on the chief. The garbage was disgusting and so were the class of some of the fishermen there.

The only sad part of this is it was an absolutely perfect place to take a kid to teach them to fish with non stop action.

I went there once last fall...way too many people for my liking...not relaxing at all.

I did not notice any over harvesting...a lot of people were throwing the fish back. I didn't see any trash either but perhaps it was covered by snow as the shoreline was freshly covered.

All in all, I would not go back. I like less company when I'm out.

They do need a way to enfore and police it. I always got my permit and would ask how many permits were sold and often i would be told that i was the first one and find 4 or 5 groups out there already. So trespassing and littering and lifetime ban for rez would straighten people out. Over the last 20 years of fishing there it is the same bad apples that show up for a few years at a time.

I think I went 3 times there about 4 years ago to take my FIL who doesn't fish often and wanted to catch something and only once was there someone at the office before we drove in. I was told sometimes someone may come around to collect the money whilst fishing but noone ever did. Last time I went I saw a guy cooking trout after trout only to be fined a few hours later when the MNR showed up. His big mouth got him into more trouble than he was already in. Haven't been back since as it is also way to busy for my liking and shooting fish in a barrel is not my cup of tea.
