N̈obody is going to laugh. I have used spinners but not as much as my jigs and cranks. You can slow troll with spinners or drift with a slight breeze. Great for walleye and crappie. There are some members that use them much more than I do. Hopefully they see your post and reply. If I do use them it is on a fairly calm day, with a slow retrieve. Good luck with the knew boat.

Spinnerbaits and inline spinners can be quite effective when the conditions are favourable.
I really like to fish spinnerbaits (the classic v shaped ones with the blades on one side and a skirted body on the other) in windy weather along any type of structure I find. My favourite structure consists of rock flats where I use a fast retrieve with a double willow leaf spinnerbait. I generally use brighter colours like white/chartreuse, all white, or some other type of pattern that matches local forage. As to blade colours, silver for when the sun is shining and gold for when it is overcast or low light conditions.
I used to fish inline spinners like a Vibrax or Mepps a lot, namely for bass but also for walleye, especially when I'm fishing a weed flat. My favourite to use was always a #3 Mepps w/ a chartreuse blade w/ black dots along with a juicy nightcrawler added to a single hook. It always worked well, but I haven't thrown one in years.
Booyah has a series called the Covert Series that you can find in most tackle stores and their website provides a great guide on what patterns to throw and when.
