I envy you kayakers. Your set ups look awesome and I know from a lot of canoeing how peaceful it is out there. Unfortunately my back just doesn’t allow it anymore, I do love the electric trolling motor on a nice quiet lake in the evening though. Looking forward to it at some point!

It is the most peaceful way to fish and you can sneak up on them. I don't pedal or paddle....I use a Ulterra and it is completely hands free. Including auto deploy/stow. That is an awesome item to have in a kayak. You stay in the seat and just direct it with the remote, your phone or GPS.

Man that sounds awesome! I love the old ways as I’m sure most of us do, but you really can’t beat some of the new technology available nowadays, it really is a treat, especially if it brings extra comfort. Sounds like a really awesome rig that you could spend a lot of time on the water with. I sure can’t wait to get out on the water haha.

Good luck to everybody fishing the walleye opener. I will get around to it sooner or later. Won't be near the lake until next week. Have fun, fish fast, not slow this weekend. Fish will be aggressive.

Hi crappeeeman, Thanks for your awesome posts. Inspires me to go after 'em. Do you think the crappie have dispersed from the shallows yet on Scugog? I was thinking of heading up there this week. cheers, John

Welcome to the Fishing Forum. I don't fish scugog, but that lake is not far from where I fish. The crappie were spawning where I was fishing a few days ago. Big crappie spawn first, and so on down to the smaller spawners. I would say the big crappie on my target list are gone to 15 feet of water during the day. At night those big crappie will be out cruising with the walleye. There will be smaller crappie 5 to 8 inches still in the shallows, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year spawners. An early spring has pushed up regular spring fishing about 9 days. I am sure you will enjoy getting out on the water. But don't expect any trophies unless you can find the crappie in 15 feet at the first drop off from their spring hideouts. This is what I consider take home, clean, and BBQ crappie.....11 to 16 inches. Good luck.

Jamie I must say that not only are your fishing skills excellent but you have improved your photography skills a thousand fold. I know it's hard to get light when you fish but that is the key and I think you have now got it friend.

Thank you very much Arnie. There are so many beautiful pictures taken by other members that compliment their fishing adventures. A well timed picture completes the fishing tale. Without the pictures is just a story that is quickly forgotten. Add some pictures and we can all share in the excitement of the moment. An unexpected visitor, from a chipmunk to a bear. The unforgetable smile of a family member catching their first fish. We all have our favourite fishing memories burned into our brains. Thank God for cameras and videos to relive and share the moments. Took this while spring crappie fishing a couple years ago. Just the Osprey and myself searching the same shoreline for food. Two lonely souls competing for the same prize. Utimately the success of one of us, would hinge on the others defeat. This is easily one of my favourite pictures.

Great job man!
Thank you sir, it's been a riot so far. Went out again today, right after the rain stopped and was met by this snapping turtle.
That guy looks to be 80 years old! Can't have stringer in the water with guys like that around!
Snappers lay eggs in my gravel boat launch every year. Every once in a while we will take a medium size snapper. We put him in a great big rubber maid and change the water every day for 4 or 5 days. Flush all the nasties out. Then he gets made into soup Asian style.

Yes, they love to steal fish. Lots of stories of lost fish because of a snapping turtle. I have caught three in my life, fishing for pike. One hooked in the foot and two in the mouth.
