I thought port perry boat launch has free parking. Planning to go tomorrow evening. Correct me if it's not the case. Also last time I went out casearea the whole day only got some dinky perch. Since I won't be able to stay too long, I can only try one area, anyone mind to recommend a location? Thanks.

The Port Perry boat launch is free, unless you have a trailer, then you have to pay. The ice was over 12 inches last weekend, so it should be fine. Mostly dinky perch at that point, but there will be crappie in the evenings. The ice should still be ok for atvs and sleds. The permie hut operator drives out with a jeep.

What time are you planning to go and how long? I may be able to join you. Can't seem to PM yet as newbie here.

I will be there this weekend to check out my honey points years ago. I haven't been to Scugog for several years.

Thanks for update. After Monday's -30 frozen weather, it should be safer on ice now, but still need to keep caution.

I had a permanent hut that slept 4 on scugog for many years before the walleye moratorium, the decline of eyes coincided with the first year we started catching crappie, the first two years they were ALL giants, nothing under 14Ē, and quite a few 16Ē fish, over the years they infiltrated the lake, during that time period i read an article by Gord Pyzer about this, he hit the nail right on the head, and basically predicted the demise of scugog, apparently crappie are notorious for eating young of the year walleye, im not suggesting keeping everything, but keeping your limit, if they wont be wasted, may not be a bad idea.....anyone else here remember those few years when the slabs were giant?

Found an old photo, feb 2007, when we started to see the crappie and started noticing a decline in walleye
