It's not legal, she said he had native status. MNR doesn't seem to want to challenge that boundary very far these days. Careless use of a firearm would be the easiest charge to lay as there is no treaty for that.

And since it was posted video they still could.

Freaking brutal. I dont understand even if you do have status then you should have a card. When I owned a franchise I would only remove the tax for a person with a status card when they told me they were native. Couldnt the MNR check that??

I see this video being posted across a few places. So answer here is to have status or not?

Could even potentially use Bylaws if he is in a municipality - most have bylaws against firing a firearm within city limits. My town considers a bow to be a firearm for bylaw purposes. At least he would get a big fine, status or not.

So the guys bow fishing with a modern compound bow wearing modern neoprene waders shooting non native salmon.
How the heck can you play the status card with a straight face.
Plain old self indulgent greed if you ask me.

Bow for huntig carp is fine but for salmon I don't like it, even if you are the Queen.
Port Hope should be a sanctuary from the mouth of the river up.
This kind of fish are not great for table, why kill them? Why?

Even if you hey made it a sanctuary a native can fish or bow hunt it. Closing more water is not the answer.

A bow is not a Firearm, as it does not achieve 500 FPS

I didn't say a bow was a firearm. I said my town considers a bow to be the same as firing a firearm for the purposes of bylaw enforcement. If Port Hope has a similar bylaw, this person could be fined, regardless of status.
