So day/night two was just like Monday night. Lots of walleye caught over 20 kept 2 and rock bass caught 15 and a few bluegill as well. This time the crappie showed up in a large school caught about 20 and kept 10. The crappie were still biting when the sun was rising but I was too tired to stay out any longer. Beavers were out again and the muskrat and mink were catching fish at the edge of the water and coyote were making lots of noise. I was at two different spots this time about a mile apart. Here is some pictures. First picture is a walleye and crappie almost the same size but the crappie looks much bigger. I don't keep walleye unless they are fatter than this one but I thought it would make a cool picture. Walleye was dead anyway from inhaling my crank bait. Crappie ate the crank bait as well it was almost all the way in its mouth.

A shot of the fillets...more meat on the crappie. This is why I don't keep skinny walleye. Just because it's a keeper doesn't mean keep it if it's skinny.

Thank you again for the comments from all of you. As for my biggest crappie caught on Balsam lake. It was Balsam where my PB crappie was caught in late September 2014. Crappie was 17.5 inches and 2.6 pounds. It was caught at night and sat in the fridge all day. I went to clean it and someone said you better get a picture of that. I never took pictures of fish very often but very glad that someone spoke up. My goal is to break the Ontario record...and not in the spring when the crappie are full of eggs. Another fall crappie is what would make a great record for me. Maybe someday. I came close a few other times with a few 16s and 16.5s but they were in the fall as well. Someday I hope. Here is a picture, wish I would have put it on the board with the bait in its mouth like the one from last nights fishing. Oh well.

Congrats on another great outing. I always look forward to your detailed posts. I have recently gotten into Crappie fishing the last couple years, and it's proven to be a great outing for the kids as well. Good luck on the hunt for the record!

Way to go CM. Thanks for the report. You crushed it again. I hope to do some evening fishing over the next few weekends if the weather cooperates. I wonder where the bigger walleye are hiding. Good luck on your next outing.

CM, as always, great fishing and great report. Those crappie are real slabs!
Enjoy your fish meal.

I was inspired by your night success and decided to try some night fishing as well (first time this year).

I posted a report in Simcoe section as I was in Central Ontario
