In preparation for a few days on the Bruce Peninsula in Zone 13, I checked out Navionics for the area. I have never seen green shading along the shoreline before. What does this refer to?
Thanks!

In my experience with the on-line version of Navionics, this is a super shallow area....less than 2 feet generally, with lots of packed weeds and rocks. Not a place to venture with a boat, but maybe a kayak would be ok.

Could also be seasonal fluctuation areas that are sometimes exposed out of water but either way itís evident itís extremely shallow even when the water is up.

In my experience with Navionics the depth can be off by several feet depending on when the water depth survey was taken of the lake and what the water level fluctuation is doing seasonally or yearly.

Yes, I wondered if it might be a seasonal variation although one would expect to see that in other lakes as well -- which I haven't. I too have noticed that the Navionics depths can be off both in the web app and the GPS map chip in my sonar.

If weather conditions are suitable, I'll be venturing out in a canoe -- close to shore and wearing my PFD as always.

Being that it is the Bruce Peninsula, it could be shallow shale ledges...lots of them there!
