I am looking for advice on a hard water destination 2 day three night trip within 8 hours of buffalo ny. I’ve got my own hut, flasher , Hester etc... only place I’ll be limited is I will be on foot. Not especially picky on target species as I switch it up quite often, but walleye would definitely be first choice.

Bay of Quinte I've had luck there. Dunno how far it is from Buffalo.

I agree that BOQ is an excellent Walleye destination and would fit well under your time limit. That said, the ice can vary dramatically from area to area. It is problematic in even the best years. It would be most unwise to venture out there without the company of someone with local knowledge. In short, BOQ is much better during soft water.

For Walleye and much more reliable ice I would recommend Nipissing. Considerable farther to drive than BOQ but well worth it for the added safety.

Thanks for the replies I am actually going to the bay of quinte, in June. Do you know if any hit operators will drag your hut out for a few?

Most will no problem. A crisp red bill goes a long way.

Just rent a hut on Nip, the operator will drive you out to the hut (usually a long way from shore) you will get a good spot guaranteed. You can use an ATV but if there is slush or deep snow...you know. Much Faster/easier trip to rent a hut. Bring your fishing gear and food and go. Given your driving distance, I would choose this option.
