So I finally pulled the trigger on a new vessel and ended up with the old town bigwater pdl 132.
Big upgrade from my previous yak, a bps ascend 12'. I've had a few trips out in it now, in waves that would have kept me on shore before, and this thing cuts through the water and keeps me fishing.

The pedal drive is a huge upgrade and makes getting to all those spots so much easier, especially in wind or current. I did a 15 km trip down the notty with fellow board member cousin hippie and my brother, and we lashed all our yaks together, me in the middle, and my yak carried all three of us downstream with ease.

I've picked up a few new scotty accessories for it as well, like an anchor lock, lake trollers, sounder Mount and rod holder. Haven't had a chance to try the lake trollers out yet, but I got plans for it next spring/summer up north.

This is with the pedal drive lifted for shallow water and launching

And the pedal drive deployed. It needs about 14" or so to clear bottom. Geared at 10:1.it can hit 6mph, but that speed isn't really sustainable. 4-5 mph is easy enough.

Very nice kayak indeed, especially with that pedal drive.

So the yak weighs in at 98 lbs. Pretty heavy as far as yaks go, with a 500 lbs capacity.

Pdl drive is 18-20 lbs on its own. But my loading and storage issues are such that the extra weight isn't a big deal, I'm also 6'5" and can move the vessel around easily enough. There are other smaller options with pdl dives that are lighter and more manageable. But for now I can manage it with no need for a trailer.

98lb weight and 500 capacity, that's really great. Mine is 65lb and 375 capacity. No pedal drive Have fun using it!
