Went out Friday evening fished from 8 until just before dark when the mosquitoes chased me in ( Crappeeeman ) warned of the bugs. Lake was calm and quiet which i believe had to do with the good fishing and the stable air mass for the previous several days. Fished the edge of the cabbage that was in around 8 feet, most fish were 3-5ft in rock/stone bottom next to weeds. First fish was about 16” walleye being chased by what look to be a 10 lb walleye. Biggest i have seen on Balsam. Caught 4 lost 2 the 4 were 19,18,16 and 14.5”. One lost was around 22” lost it at the boat. Worm harness retrieved slowly did thee damage. Fish were aggressive, hitting hard and peeling drag. It was a night you could do nothing wrong but loose a few. Saturday was a different day all together so much activity on the lake with the nice weather went out from about 10am till noon. Lost 2 caught one 19” and a smallie just shy of 4LBs. 10 to 12 ft of cabbage using jig head with Bio Leech
Sealed the deal. Same depth in the evening for a few hours after dinner, lost 2, caught a 19.5” walleye and small smallie. It was very hot but couldn’t complain about the fishing even went for a swim to cool off.

Excellent fishing weekend , Flexkk! Congrats and thanks for sharing the details.
Nice eyes and smallie

They definitely welcome the warmer and stable weather. Rocks and weeds transition areas are almost always good walleye producers.

We were once fishing a smaller lake in summer for walleye and there were three of us. One buddy was casting from the front of the boat to the weedy point , I was casting to the same point but from the middle of the boat into the deeper weedy area and the third friend was casting from stern to the adjacent weedy bay.

The first guy was getting three big walleyes almost every second cast, I got two small walleyes and the third friend was getting nothing. We were using pretty much the same lures.

When later in the day when the sun was overhead, we checked this point again , we found that the area the first buddy was casting to earlier that day and getting all the big ones was a combination of big chunks of broken rock mixed with cabbage weeds. ideal walleye habitat.

Someone has been busy the last two days. Nice fish and pictures and report. I am very jealous. Have not been fishing now in a week and it might be a few more before I can get away. So keep on taking those pictures so I don't forget what a fish looks like. LOL Too bad about the mosquitoes, maybe next time you are out, it will be a bit windy.

Nice post...had a few hours up at my place on Balsam but just to work. No fishing on this short trip. Jump in and cool off ??? The water at the end of my dock, thermometer being 4 feet down, read a very warm 25C !!!!!!! that is like August water temperatures...seems like it was turning on the fish for you though !!! Rook

I hope next you get out to do some fishing. Yes the water was nice when I went for a dip. Calm conditions made for a quick warm up. I saved you lots so they will be there for you when you get to go.
