We got out a few days through this weekend and enjoyed some of the best weather we have had all year. We got dialed in on the fish well and went 13 for 18 over the weekend. We were super busy outside of fishing and could only get out the last few hours of daylight every day. The water was super calm, the wind was nonexistent and the temps were perfect. After getting smashed around out deep all summer long it was a welcome change of pace. We spent more time reeling in fish than we did finding them / fishing. It was the stuff dreams are made of.
We had a double almost had a triple and our adrenalin was pumping the whole time we were out. One big fish hooked up, right as it got almost pitch black outside on my son's rod and snapped his line off above his planner board. We managed to find the planner board about 3 minutes later in the dark and catch up to it. The fish was towing it away at about 6 mph but Jack managed to hang off the edge of the boat and scoop it up and started hand lining the fish in. He got it right up to the boat about 10 minutes later where it then swam under to the other side, jumped about 3 feet in the air, shook the hooks out and splashed us all before swimming away in victory. Even tho we didn't get that guy in the boat it was one of the most exciting moments I have experienced this year, Jack will be telling people how he almost hands lined in a monster salmon this year.
3 1/2 to 4-inch jerk baits, jointed rapalas size 9 seemed to be the best overall baits for us. Got 2 or 3 on Lymans as well. 15 - 30 feet of water seemed to be the sweet spot for us. The bite seems to turn off after dark but is best between 6:30-8:00 pm.
I am sitting here typing this post exhausted debating if I should try and get out one more time this evening and disregard how trashed I would feel tomorrow because of it. Hope some of you guys got out an enjoyed the weather we had this weekend too!

Thanks everyone. We will definantly be remembering this weekend for a long time to come.
Yes this was around Collingwood, I just go out of the harbor and decide where to go by which way the wind is blowing that day or flip a coin got a steam / river mouth and head that way. With all the rain we had last night and today a bunch of these guys are probably upstream now but I'm sure theres tons out there for a couple of weeks at least still.
