Anyone see any drones hovering over them on the ice? I had one come within meters of my friend and I. Sat there hovering, watching us until we started throwing snowballs at it and flipping whoever was on the other end off. Thought at the time it might have been some dumb witted cottager. Then I here from some one the other night that the MNR is using drones to spy on us.

Police state anyone?

Not 100% this is fact, but as long as I see an unmarked drone spying on me, I'll be doing my best to take it down.

Would love to hear an outright denial from MNR, but I doubt we ever will.

You already know the answer to the police state question. Be interesting to know if that’s who it was.

Lol I have actually been told they do use them which they are a tremendous tool for search and rescue but I highly doubt they would get that Close to with it. They would likely get pics of u doing something wrong from a distance then come bust you. It was likely some rich kid or man child having fun in the cottage.

What do you mean by meters?
5, 10, 25 ect or even further away?

5 meters maybe? literally staring at us. coming closer than backing off when we would approach. . .

I don't mind someone playing with a drone doing a sweep of the area to take in the beauty from above, but this was a blatant invasion of my personal space. Someone on the other end was watching us.

How would any of you feel about that?

Last time I checked the regs I didn’t see drones at all! If it flies it dies!

Probably just another fisherman seeing what your catching or trying to harass you because you might’ve fishing where they fish.

Should bring a shelter next time leave the door open see if it comes in close for a peak..

Take it down with the 12 GA and say you thought it was a cormorant.

I've had the same thing happen fishing a couple weeks ago. Had a little drone come over and come down within 10-15 ft of us. It would take off and go up and down the lake but every time it would pass us (we are the only people on the lake mind you) it would always come down and hover just above of us for a few minutes and then take off again. After about 4 times of that we started to get the snowballs going. Safe to say it didn't come back after that. lol. At the time i figured it was just some man child but this post got me thinking it could be MNR/ OPP also.
