Fished jigs and plastics for walleye and bass on the lower Otonabee River on Wednesday. Plenty of small largemouth (10 to 14 inches) and one good smallmouth (17 inches) but no walleye.
Surprised to catch five pike along break lines next to fresh green weeds, from Kent's Bay down to the lake. All pike were 22 to 26 inches and quite chunky. These fish appeared to be from one year class - when this bumper class starts spawning the result will be even more pike in the Otonabee and Rice Lake. Let's hope the impacts on the future muskie, bass, walleye and crappie fishery are not too great!

Always just keep all you are allowed for 'human consumption' as far as pike go in muskie/walleye waters, the mnr cant do much else to help. They can't tell you to remove or kill/cull more than you are allowed, they also can't do their job properly with zero resources and with stupid regulations that prevent proper resource management.
