We’re at Nipissing now. It’s incredibly slow this year. There’s a lot of Pike though. We’ve had five pike so far two that were 8 to 10 pounds. Looking for some ‘eyes but not finding any. We’ve gotten probably about 15 but all under slot.

That’s great news. Pike = Food. Good stuff. All on set lines? Or jigging?

Perhaps the weather has a lot to do with it? Our weather up here has been horrible, a few days it's cold and sunny then in comes the snow and rain then back to cold and sun. Between the constant high and low pressure changes maybe the fish are just turned off.

I've tried other lakes in the area and the same thing. Last year we caught our limit of splake in one afternoon this year 1 splake so far. So...what's going on? Weather?

Today on Callander Bay, I caught 2 jumbo perch in 30 minutes on a swimming jig (looked like a small perch) tipped with a minnow tail.

Just my two cents.

Good luck everyone

If you have a hard time catching fish on Nipissing you will definitely not enjoy Temagami.
