What are you guys using ? I seem to get overwhelmed with so many products looked online and in Cabela's , Sail , CTC and MEC . I want comfortable pfd that I'm going to wear ; the cheap vests I have in my aluminum boat just won't do .

Thanks in advance
I wear a Mustang manual deploy PDF. They are not the cheapest, but are low profile and does not get in the way. I've never had to deploy it thankfully, but very comfortable.
The Lifejacket should be high quality and should be highly visible (yellow) especially when you are in a low profile kayak.
It very important to be a reliabile item. I wear it all the time. It is the last thing I set before is step into kayak. I have a VHF station in the front pocket of it and the cell in another one. I do mostly Erie lake and Ontario for now deep inside the lakes (6km to 10km offshore).
Don't be cheap when you buy it for use in a kayak.

Are these PFDs legal for use in Canada? I see it has "UL" certification, but I've been told that unless it has the new (as of 2018) "performance level" label, or a specific "Approved by Transport Canada" label, it can't be carried on a boat in Canadian waters.
Your link says it's "US Coast Guard Type III" approved, which is the old (pre 2018) system. In which case it needs to have the "Approved by Transport Canada" statement.
Not casting any shade here... I'm just hoping to avoid a nasty fine in case these aren't legal. For me or anyone else.

The best fishing equipment comes from US, Canada just follow the US in these matters. I won't worry if does not have Canada stamp on it as long is US approved.

I agree with GRUNTMAN, want to make sure it is legal. US may be as good or even better, but you don't want a ticket. I have a manual deploy as well, not sure of the make, since I have a boat and wear a PFD at all times it doesn't matter as I always carry a vest style in the boat anyway. The inflatable ones don't count as a PFD it they are not worn, so if you take it off and they come around and don't have it on and don't have another PFD you could be in trouble. At least that is my understanding from a couple years ago.
