Any advice on fishing stocked lakes before ice up? I've been skunked twice so far on a brookie lake and a rainbow lake. I've tried trolling cowbells with a worm harness and tried casting spoons around the shoreline. What depths should I be trying to fish at this late in the year?

When I fish splake lakes this time of year I use a minnow 5 -8 feet under a slip float on a steep shoreline with jumbled rock. Sometimes I will use worms and casting spoons works when they are aggressive. Move along shore until you find them but give each spot half an hour.
I will say I have some of my best catches at this time of year say Thanksgiving to freeze-up. Tight lines and good luck.
