If you have read the other posts, you know it started out as a solenoid issue and the motor would turn over properly after I replaced it, but would not start.
As I explored various things, I thought I had a fuel varnish problem, but that was not the case.
My boat and motor are from 1999 and I bought it in 2006. I've used the same fuel hose and primer bulb since then.
DID YOU KNOW THERE IS A PLASTIC LINER INSIDE YOUR FUEL HOSE?
I discovered this plastic liner had broken down after 25 years and bits and pieces were clogging the fuel system.
I replaced the fuel hose and primer bulb, cleaned the fuel lines I could easily get at and installed a new fuel filter (Same as I have used for years from Princess Auto). It started and ran briefly and then stalled and would not restart.
My Marine mechanic was finally able to fit me in this week and he cleaned all the fuel lines and installed a Mercury fuel filter as he found the new one I had installed had already clogged with plastic debris.
Now it runs like it is supposed to.
I'm posting this to let you know about the potential issue with old fuel hoses.
Hope to back at Meaford next week to see if we can connect with some Salmon.

Good to hear….now let’s catch some fish…..tight lines. I am in Port Elgin all week and brought the kayak. Not much to catch out here unless someone can tell me different, but I will hopefully get some calm weather and find some fish.

I had a similar issue years ago, got it solved with 2 fuel filters, one before the fuel pump and a smaller one before the carb - has run mint ever since
curious if you’ve used regular gas with ethanol or premium/non ethanol gas through your ownership of the motor

Used regular until they started putting ethanol in it. Switchd to premium.
When they went to Ethanol in the premiu, I switched back to regular and added Sea Foam to every tank of gas.

NICE! Glad the problem is resolved and you are back in business.
Yes, can't find 0% ethanol gas anymore. Looked at the premium gold at the pump at it says 10% Ethanol.
I also add seaform and stabilizer to my tank now.
Cheers & happy it wasn't a bigger issue
There's a couple of gas stations that still have zero ethanol. On Hwy 400, for example, there is Wolf Energy, and further north Gen 7 (or whatever they're call now). I've noticed they don't have ethanol for any grade of gas.
Glad to hear you got the motor running smoothly too!

My mechanic assured me that Shell premium has no ethanol
You better look for a new mechanic. Every premium octane out there now has 10% ethanol in it, Shell included.Jan 11, 2023
Yes that's the gas I used for by boat Shell Premium cuz i get a few cents off per L.. and that's were I saw the sticker saying ethanol. Will take a pic next time I fill up
Side note, good to know you can still find 0% ethanol gas. Any stations on the east end GTA, Whitby maybe? At the marina
