Hi Guys Just got back from 6 days of Muskie fishing . We fished Balsam , Sturgeon and Pigeon . Tough week weather wise high winds every day around 10 mph with gust some days up to 18 mph . I had a heart attack Sept 8 trouble with a old stent from 2008 it was 80% blocked so they put a new one in. My heart doc wasn't going to let me come but I talked him into it . I fished with my son and one of my grandsons came along he is 27 first trip to Canada he caught his first Muskie 34 1/2" on Pigeon . For the week we boated 9 and saw another 22 from follows and hits we only count hits if we see the Muskie hit it . 5 of the follows were from nice fish in the 40" class . My son caught a 43" er on Pigeon the last day for big fish of the week cost me $10 . We fished with 5 of my Canadian friends on Saturday we call it a Can-Am it was on Sturgeon who ever is behind at lunch time picks up the tab they kicked our butts I had to buy . We boated 5 Muskies saw 7 others on Saturday biggest was a 42" er by Kitch he used to be my Canadian buddy . With the wind we couldn't fish a lot of our favorite spots . The surface temp dropped 8 degrees a couple days we had 63 next day 55 . Still had a great time next year the Canadians are buying lunch .

Considering the heart issues, it was great to get together with or without fish in the boat. Only Hank could convince a doctor that standing for 10 hours a day in the cold, wind and rain in another country, is the best cardio rehab program available! Our annual Can-Am was a little different this year. Team Canada held a secret meeting and decided something unprecedented: we would not catch anything bigger than 42" that day. We did not want to "throw" the game, but we did want to help out our American friends. We upheld our pledge and "topped out" at 42", that's just the kind of people we are on this side of the border. We lost count of the 50" fish we quietly saw swim away..........
All jokes aside, it was fun to get together and just go muskie fishing. Your heart attack was a shock to us, but your recovery and the cardio fishing rehab program shows us how much we all enjoy the comradery of being in the boat. The BS and trash talk of our tournament is just the icing on the cake.

Here is my grandsons first Muskie even with the cold front and high winds he had a good time and learned how to cast all the different types of Muskie lures . By the end of the week he was giving his Pap tips on how to work them . I'm sure he will be back again chasing Muskies .

Great post. Glad to see your grandson got one and the one you caught was really nice. Glad you were able to tough it out in those windy conditions. Stay healthy.

Great report Hank Jr, sounds like this is one annual trip you guys make north of the border that you wouldn't want to miss....fish or no fish. Glad to see you were able to hook into a few while you were up here but obviously the good times shared with family and good friends is the backbone to this trip

Kitch was sure happy to catch his, been awhile for him I think. You were a good teacher, sometimes it takes awhile for the lessons to be learned. Fun day on and off the water. J

Glad to hear you still made it up for your trip, Hank. Wish I knew you were still coming up as I would have definitely come by to see you. Looks like you all had a wonderful time. Hope you had a safe travel back home.
