What longshank said 😁 keep it simple split shot and small hook. Most of all you really have to pay attention when the bit is light. Ohh and fish from sun up to 1am or when you start to see double 😂😂

We were up with SSIC Jan 4-6th. There was 5 in the group, the youngest member is 12 and appears to be mastering the art of ice fishing. It is always fun to see the excitement in the eyes of a fisherman or woman of any age when a big one comes out of the hole, especially when they are holding the rod. All told we ended up with 104 walleye (5 keepers), 9 perch, 1 llng (10.58lbs), 1 pike and of course a mud puppy. The service at SSIC is always top notch and everyone had a great weekend. Cannot wait to get back up in a couple weeks.

we've found they start to bite around 7-9am and then it goes cold until about 3-5pm....after that we get nothing.

Of course, I suspect user error has a lot to do with our lower numbers!

The bite was pretty soft for the most part. Split shot and minnow was saw the most action, along with jigging lipless rattle baits to attract them. Went through most colour combos and cannot say one was better than another. Caught fish on almost everything we tried but had to be patient and electronics sure help.

Ah yes, lying in bed with a cold drink in one hand and ice rod in the other. 👍
