Hi Folks,
Finally a fishing report from me.. Now that junior is allowing me some free time, I was able to get out steelheading this spring. I did try during the fall of 2022 a few times, with limited success. The numbers have been quite low in the tribs I fish. Not sure if it's a year class thing or just less steelhead running. Same with early spring in the open sections, very few steelhead around even on days with prime looking water. Anyways, opener and the fews days after were decent, hitting some nice steelhead. All fish were completely spawned out and some were quite beat up, probably from being in the river all winter. With the mild winter the rivers didn't freeze up like they usually do and allowed fish to run all winter. Fish were caught on roe, pinkie worms and beads. With Chartreuse and Hot Pink being the best colours..
Finally, I ended my season early on account of the deer ticks! They are really bad this spring. I removed 7 that were crawling up my waders and found 2 on my car seat. I was careful and ensured I did not get biten. Decided to just end my adventures to avoid them. Due to the mild winter the population has exploded in the brush along the rivers.
Done.. Time to get the boat ready..
Cheers & Happy Fishing!
