Mrs. SDCaller and I decided we needed to go for a drive today to enjoy the sunshine and get out of the house and do something since there are no fiddle jams or square dances for us to attend.

We drove from Horseshoe Valley to Meaford on a circuitous route that took us along the shore a lot.

We drove over the Notty in several places and it is high in the fields and in the bush. Dirty, but not really muddy.

Took a look at Collingwood and no boats out as it was strong off shore winds. No one fishing the harbor or off the point beyond the silos.

Half a dozen or so fishing at the mouth of the Beaver and did see one fish hooked and lost.

Couple of cars parked at Indian Brook.

Picked up lunch at Timmies in Meaford and drove down to the harbor to eat it. Quite a few fishing the Big Head, but didn't see anyone getting into fish. No boats out.

That's the report.

Thank you for the report SDC...that helps me plan for this weekends outing.

Hard to believe the bay has been ice free most of March if not earlier?...and its April already this week with most ramps wide open in the harbors.

I think we will be fishing the lake on opener this time for sure as most fish are up river spawning now...and that's a good thing !

Great report! I've seen a couple bows that look really beat up like they have already spawned and came back down the rivers already. It's great so many are getting up before being pounded on. With the ramps closed last spring and the early start this year hopefully it helps the population out.
We weren't able to raise any rainbows at our hatchery last year as covid ceased our harvesting operation(live and release program, no fish get hurt) last spring but we will be collecting them this year. Hopefully natural production makes up for it.

Thx Ralph

Knugirl and I made a shoreline trip on Sun March 21. I was a bit reluctant to post as I thought the info might be a bit too specific. The folks at Tbury said they had caught some in the AM. We walked up to the ladder and saw 2-3 in the ladder and lots jumping at the entrance as well as , many more jumping at the concrete ramp below the dam. When we got back down there was a guy landing a 4-5 # fish.

There were a couple of fishers at I brook but no fish. Apparently a few had been caught a few days earlier when the water was a lot higher.

There were surfers----yes, surfers---at Sunset Pt.
