What do you think of the new format?
Personally, I don't like it.
I much preferred the old format.

It's totally horrible, used to be able to zoom in on the actual radar sites and get a large picture of what was going to hit us. Now even if you zoom in a far as you can, it covers about 4 times the area with no real detail. It sucks. I sent them them my thoughts and it wasn't pretty. Government getting their fingers into things that they don't need to.

I agree with you Eric and I have also sent them my comments, suggesting the new format was created by a moron and it is totally useless to me.
As you said, the old format let you see what was moving into the immediate local area and the intensity level you could expect.
Very helpful when you are planning to take the boat out on Lake Simcoe or Georgian Bay. In my mind a real safety feature, which has now disappeared.

I'm really concerned and annoyed with this change to the weather radar by Environment Canada.
I feel we have lost a real safety feature for those of us planning to head out onto the water or ice.
I plan to compose a letter to my MP expressing concern about the actions of EC and see what pressure he can bring to have EC restore the old safety features. Once I compose it, I will post it on the Forum and if you agree with my concerns, send a copy to your MP.

I was always using weathernetwork.com radar feature and just checked it now and see that it's still showing present and future radar forecast for the next half day ahead for your local area.
it appears that this info is sourced from Environment Canada

I too am struggling with the new look. Not sure why you are not able to drill down to your local radar site as they are still there. Perhaps it would not be difficult to enable that part again? I do like how you can see the weather system in the US now as a lot of the storms we get come from south of the border. I used to go to the US doppler site to see what was coming and what way it was tracking and don't have to do that any longer. If you look down there now they have some colourful stuff happening down the east side of the country and into the south. US doppler changed their site a couple months ago. I didn't like it much either and it now appears as though they are tied together at least on the Environment Canada site.

For the US radar, I use weatherunderground and it is pretty good.

I just looked at The Weather Network and it is a bit better, as you can "zoom" it much more than you can the Environment Canada map.
