soft water PERCH

Hi Fellas,

From North Bay and always look forward for a feed of jumbo perch but hard to tell from way up here when the window for the perch bite happens. We tend to visit a couple times in April.

Can you guys chime in from time to time and let us know?

How's the situation on lake Simcoe? Still iced up?

Any predictions on an ice free date?

Still iced up but it's starting to shift around a bit. It'll be a little while yet I'd think.

Update.

Just got home from work and she gone. Looks like most of it pushed over to the east side of the lake.

Won't be long now that the ice is moving around and there's steady warm weather being forecast. Scugog is open, water level is very high, but crappie should be going soon (if not already, although I suspect temps are still a bit low).

Never fish for crappie don't know were love to do it one day

Crappie are out and hungry around the usual spots surrounding Simcoe. I have no information on perch.

There are perch to be had in any area you find open water, whether it be shallow 2' or less, or medium depths of 10' or so.

There are several rivers and canals that have been open for a couple of weeks now.

You don't always have to bring the boat down as fishing from shore is always an option, especially with the main lake still icdd.

Been fishing perch from shore snce apr 6th. Some days are excellent others have been slow, seems like the cold rainy days are better than the nice days.
