Went to fish first ice with the Boys and stayed at Bear creek cottages in the overnight huts. Shawn and Terra have a wonderful business out there with unbelievable staff. The lake was all ice with little snow but they got us there safe and had no worries in the world. Me and the boys had tons of action on Jan 2nd with over 20 Walleye and 3 keepers. Lots of perch (a few keepers) and 3 Herring. Day 2 was much of the same with the night bite hot between 9:30pm and 11pm. Slowed down a bit today but over all was an amazing and safe trip. Thanks again to bear creek and it’s staff!

That’s awesome! Nice fish. We were up for the opener and did very well and now only 9 days til we’re up for another 5. It’s gonna be great! It was slow last year so we’re looking forward to lots of action this year 🤞.

Hopefully the bite doesn't cool off, we are heading up Tuesday for 2.5 days in their cottage/day hut option. It would be nice if the large perch start cooperating as well they have not been as plentiful the last couple of years. Good luck to everyone this season.

Any advice on weather the fishing’s better outside the hut? Or the same inside the huts? I’ve heard mixed feelings on this. Just wondering from you guys with more experience.

We usually fish inside during the slow times while eating lunch and stuff but make sure we are outside and spread out during the prime time bite. (dusk and dawn)
