Took today off work, and fished THE lake again

Landed two laker quickly early in the morning

Then headed to some shallower water looking for whitefish. Marked a few but no commit (the fish I am sure are whitefish, were only staying at bottom, and would not take anything I offerred, and would not come up, eihter;-)

Ice are good 18 inches I say, with half crappy ice and half black and good quality ice

And there are literally no snow at all on ice

At this point, hitting your lake trout limit is a given for you. Well done James.

Yeah, you hit your limit before I was able to. I would have been closer if I didn't lose my first two hooked and one would have been bigger than the two nice eater sized ones I got.
I found the same. I am pretty sure there were WF marks but they were slow and lazy and stayed on bottom (barely rising and sometimes not at all...I did get a couple hanging around my lure for a long time as I was doing the tapping on the bottom but not that interested - hope they start to feed well soon). I also tried some blood worm imitation flies...nope.

Enjoy your dinner. Another month or so and you can bring out the kayak.

Thanks, and yes that's very true (can't wait to get back to my kayak fishin':-)

PS: My previous vehicle (a 2012 VW JETTA TDI diesel) broke down this past January so had to get another, a 2024 VW JETTA GLI, and hence will have to buy a roof rack for my kayak (the one installed on TDI won't fit this GLI)....

That's a nice car and colour. I am always looking at cars, it seems to be a hobby of mine. In the last couple of weeks there has been a few test drives. Toyota Rav4 and the new model Crown. Honda CRV and Civic after that. Two days ago it was the Buik Envista and Envision. My current vehicle is a 2023 Tuscon and yesterday took a 2025 Tuscon out. Cant beleive the changes they made in just two years. The envista on top is 34,000....The Crown on the bottom is 60,000....Mine in the middle was 36,000. The rest of the vehicles were in between those prices. I have had 9 cars, 5 mid size suv's, 3 Ford F150's and 4 Harleys since being old enough to drive. You must like Volkswagon, to buy another one. Are they good cars? I have never even sat in a Volkswagon. I was at a VW dealer last week looking at a Atlas, but have not had a test drive yet. It's a bit out of my price range, like the Toyota Crown. But knowing everything out there is the goal before stepping into another vehicle. I must say the people at VW were very nice and knowledgable. Some dealers are very frustrating and the staff seem to be stressed to make sales. I never rush into anything, it might be a year before deciding on another vehicle. Hyundai is coming out with an all new Tuscon in 2027....might wait to see that. LOL. Congratulations on the new car!

My new VW JETTA GLI with manual transmission at 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque is a bit more powerful than my previous VW JETTA TDI (diesel) at 150 horsepower, and I like it. It is sort of sporty sedan.

I only drive cars with manual transmission (I won't never ever consider anything with automatic transmission:-), so my options are very limited as these days there are fewer and fewer makes and models that are still offering with manual transmission. For example, with Volkswagen, currently (2025 model year) this JETTA GLI is the only one left that still has manual transmission.

Yes, had a few 4 speeds and 5 speeds on the floor. Learned how to drive manually on the farm. Even had an old Ford F150 with three in the tree, if some of you remember what those are. LOL.
