Knuguy, I have some spinners and I'll keep that in mind next time, I have a float that can easily be put on and taken off so sometimes I switch to the spinner if I'm not getting anything.

Cheers,

@Limacharley, I'm actually not sure what the protocol on this is. One of our Bay Trips (the trip i'm doing) a few years back had a bad run-in with a bear and had to be evacuated. I think he stole all their food and was threatening the group but I'm not sure of all the details. So they don't go on that specific river anymore although i don't know if that will really solve the problem. I don't think they carry a gun but I'm not sure.

Please do some research on canoe trips in that area and present the facts to your counselors. Would hate for you guys to have a bad experience.

Well prepared and you'll have the adventure of a life time. Wish I could go.

My camp has been doing this trip for decades. I'll make sure to ask them about it when (if) I get there this summer but they have my full trust and confidence as far as safety is concerned. The leaders there are some of the best and most capable people I know and I'm sure they'll come prepared. If you have kids, or know some that you think would like it, you might want to consider sending them to my camp, it's an experience of a lifetime. It's called Camp Wanapitei, it's located in Temagami and serves ages 6-18. It more fun if you're 10+ imo. You start out simple in lakes around Temagami and then they ease you into whitewater and longer trips over the years. You can't go but to my mind that's the next best thing. Can't recommend it enough.

the reason I suggested spinners etc is that I don't think your rod is long enough for float fishing
