So i went for lakers yesterday at BP. I didnt have a lot of confidence in getting one as I've been skunked my last 5 trips. I talked to the operator on the way out and he said the bite was good this past week. Hooray! He also said the bite was consistent in the deeper water but if you could find the fish shallow they would be schooled up. My friend and i split up. He fished 80 and i 110.

Drilled my first hole dropped the ducer, dropped my lure. After about 70ft i lost contact with my lure. Spent the next 10 mins trying to dial it in. I dont have an ice ducer and getting the balance right on the regular ducer takes a little finagling. Its usually 2 or 3 adjustments and i get it but this time it took a while. All the while i see fish swimmin around and Im freaking out. "Wheres my lure"? When i finally see it and settle into my seat i see a fish rising up to my lure. I start reeling and he smahes it within the first 10ft. Finally! I get my first laker in 2yrs. Kinds sorta on my first drop. After 10mins I call my friend to see how he's doing and tell him to get his a## over here. He tells me he got a fish on his first drop too! His fish hit on the way down.he was getting his 2nd rod ready and letting his vibrato drop. He said his rod just started bobbing up and down. Fish on!! While he was telling me this i see a fish rising to my dead stick. I start reeling. Fish on! He hit within 30ft of me reeling. ...fish number 2. Thats unheard of for me. Im used to chases of 70-90ft. 2 fish in 30 mins. The fish were really aggressive in the morning and slowed down as the day wore on.
We didnt get another fish after that but the adrenaline from the first half hr lasted the whole day. Had a bunch of risers and a few chases but nothing else would commit. Overall happy with the day. Monkey removed from back.

good job and great day! its hard to find lure sometimes when set up on a steep drop off cliff, they other day my lure was invisible for 3-4ft, sonar will catch highest portion of cone and your lure will be on deeper end towards center of cone. just my $0.02
